The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has warned that Miguna Miguna may not be a suitable candidate in the Nairobi Gubernatorial race after it emerged that he has blocked half of all voters on social media.
Disclosing the anomaly, Commission chair Wafula Chebikati said that Miguna Miguna has already expressed disinterest in the seat through blocking most potential voters on Twitter, an act that went against the spirit of the election. “We cannot have a candidate who is not open to the voice of the voters. Miguna Miguna has shown that he does not care for the Tweeting voter and this is where we draw the line.”
The move means that even if by elections will be held (subject to court case), Miguna Miguna will not be on the ballot. The lawyer who is based in Canada responded immediately by blocking the commission on Twitter.
The commission was however at loss to explain why Uhuru Kenyatta is still the president despite effectively blocking all Kenyans on social media by disabling his social media accounts.
