Kirinyaga County Governor Ann Waiguru has revealed that she is planning to spend 700 million to fight her impeachment using all possible means.
Speaking after the court refused to declare her impeachment illegal, Waiguru said that she would use her savings of Kshs 700 million to pursue all available options to secure her freedom, both through the Executive, Judiciary and Legislature.
“Whatever is happening to me is pure witch-hunting. I am ready to spend all my savings from the days when I worked for NYS to fight these unfounded accusations!” Said a fuming Waiguru. “I cannot sit and watch as the great people of Kirinyaga suffer due to greed and corruption. They deserve good leadership which I am the only one who can offer.”
The 700 million will be used to hire consultants who will be led by Embu Governor Martin Wambora, an expert in impeachment warfare and the art of making a comeback. Waiguru also said that she would use the money to get the Senate to understand her defence, without elaborating what that meant.
Meanwhile, former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has argued that impeachment motions were targeting governors who were keen on asking the question ‘why’ and not on corrupt cases. He gave the example of WhyTitu and WhyGuru as a clear evidence that the impeachment had nothing to do with performance.
