Elon Musk has finally revealed why he changed his online identity from Satoshi Nakamoto to Elon Musk, years after the world ran out of speculation.
In an Interview, Elon Musk said that he used to prefer the name Satoshi Nakamoto online in order to hide his South African identity while changing the world.
“It is very hard to do something meaningful if you were born in Africa. Everybody thinks that they can advise you. Even the gods of luck are not on your side. I used a Japanese sounding name so that I could have meaningful conversations online.”
True to his word, Elon Musk was never taken seriously until people realized that they cannot stop him. That is when he resulted to using his actual name online, instead of Satoshi Nakamoto. To date, he still credits most of his success to the magical name, and asks those who feel like they are limited by name to assume a pseudonym in order to hack a difficult world.
Afrikaans Influence
Why did he opt for that specific name?
“I am thrilled by the discipline of the Japanese people. I wanted a name that has Japanese root. There were other factors as well.”
Musk said that his childhood nickname was Comb, which was given due to his ability to comb through other peoples work and get new insights that no one had seen. This is why the name chosen Na-KAMoto include the phrase ‘Na Kam,” which means ‘After Comb’ in Afrikaans.
The rest was just an addition of good sounding syllables.
