Becoming an influencer is today’s version of being a celebrity in the 90s. It is hard work, complicated, but rewarding for them that achieve the milestone. It is equally frustrating for the millions who have to settle for 2 retweets (one own) on their pinned Tweet.
To further understand this world where everybody is seeking the widest possible public attention, PostaMate reached out to one influencer who has managed to garner a whopping 116 followers across all social media platforms. He helped us to understand this complex business of self-promotion, where everyone is busy presenting, explaining, defending or selling themselves. The reward of it all is the amount of money that is associated with being an influencer.
“I started as a catfish account where I was able to quickly gain 19 followers over a six month period. People were falling for me right left and center. It was unbelievable.
I then joined the gain trans where I would like and comment on hundreds of posts. It was a hard task but I consistently worked on it for two years. I ended up with a net of 71 followers and this is the time when my influencing career picked up. Brands wanted me to help them unlock new markets and reverse their declining sales.”
It is with this new found popularity that he managed to keep the organic growth of followers going. Currently, the super influencer has 116 followers and is looking forward to getting to 150 followers in the next 2 years.
He ends the interview with his famous quote that has attracted 5 retweets. “How different would people act if they couldn’t show off on social media? Would they still do it?”
