Dennis Itumbi, the Secretary of Innovation, Digital and Diaspora Communication, has lashed out at the Kenya Police for using what seemed to expired teargas on him and some MPs who were demonstrating the arrest of Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.
Speaking while still inside a trench right next to Kilimani Police Station, Itumbi claimed that it was unfair for the police to use expired tear gas to disperse them, while stocks of new tear gas are available. He said that there was no need for police to use the same tear gas that had been purchased for use during the 2017 general elections as it was already expired. He noted that expired teargas is more lethal and can cause even grown up men to scream and cry against their toxic masculinity.
Senator majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen added that the law is very clear on what teargas the police can use. “Using expired teargas against us is a major disrespect to the upper and the lower house, and even when NASA demonstrated in 2017, they were treated with freshly manufactured tear gas.”
The tangatanga affiliated leaders claimed they had no problem being teargassed, and they stood by their tweets earlier in life when the opposition was being teargassed.
